Online ordering for food trucks

A line at the window is good. A line that orders and pays while it walks over is better. Online ordering on Find The Eats turns your truck's page into a menu people can order from, with the money paid straight to you.

How an online order works

1. A customer opens findtheeats.com/your-truck from your QR code, a shared post or the live map.
2. They pick from your menu and pay by card. No app, no account.
3. The order pops up on your order screen with a short pickup code.
4. You tap Ready. Their screen turns green and they get a text with the order number.

A menu that knows when you're out

Set a count on anything, like 40 brisket plates or 2 dozen donuts. The count drops as orders come in, and the item shows sold out on its own, so you don't take orders for food you no longer have.

Paid orders show up in the order they came in, each with a pickup code. Window sales go on the same list, so the crew works from one queue. See window sales.

Your menu, your look

• Upload a menu PDF or image, or link your existing menu.
• Your logo, colors and tagline on the page, plus your hours, photos and socials.
• Optional sales tax added at checkout and recorded per sale.

What it costs

Each paid online order costs a flat 25¢ to Find The Eats plus Stripe's card-processing fee (currently 2.9% + 30¢ for U.S. cards). Both come out of the sale, and the rest goes to your own Stripe balance. If you don't take online orders, you pay nothing beyond your subscription. Do I need the GPS transmitter to take orders?

No. Ordering, your menu, your QR code and your page all work on every plan, including the free trial and the $15 Phone plan. The transmitter just keeps you on the map automatically.

Do customers need an app to order?

No. Your page is a normal web link that works in any phone browser.

What happens when an item runs out?

Set a stock count and it drops with each order; the item shows sold out automatically at zero.
